TRAP • NeUTER • Release

If you feed them...you need to fix them!

Why you need to TNR

Trap, Neuter, Release is one of the most important things you can do to improve the quality of life for feral cats. Scientific studies show that TNR reduces shelter intake, addresses community population concerns, and helps save lives by preventing free breeding among feral cats.

  • Kittens can start breeding as young as 4 months old
  • Stop unwanted litters and over population in an existing cat crisis in New Jersey
  • Male cats will fight less when neutered and live more peacefully at colonies together
  • Female cats will not be at risk for pyometra or suffer during birth when fixed
  • Not all kittens  survive, TNR  humanely stops suffering for both the adult cats and unborn kittens!

Want to help community cats but don't know where to start?

Alley Cat Allies offers many online resources to help you get started. You can also volunteer with our team to work alongside a mentor and other volunteers to learn effective methods firsthand.

Helping with any part of the TNR process—whether trapping, transport, or recovery—makes a direct impact on a cat’s quality of life and helps address the local population crisis.

TNR RESOURCES

A large part of our mission is providing TNR resources, medical care, education, and support. We maintain a waitlist for TNR projects based on volunteer availability and urgency—but don’t wait on us! Get empowered to make a difference with our team!

We offer free trap rentals and can help coordinate appointments for your community cats. Assisting with the process helps ensure your community cats get fixed quickly, preventing further population growth and homelessness. We partner with multiple low-cost clinics to help secure appointments and can guide you with the process of trapping.
